Protect a ZIP with a password
Upload your files, pick a password and encryption (secure AES-256 or compatible ZipCrypto) and download the protected ZIP. The password is never stored.
Your files never leave your device
How to protect a ZIP
- 1
Upload the files
Whatever you want inside the ZIP.
- 2
Pick password and encryption
AES-256 (secure) or ZipCrypto (opens everywhere).
- 3
Download the ZIP
Encrypted in your browser; the password is not stored.
Why use this tool
Real AES-256
The same encryption 7-Zip and WinRAR use, not a marketing promise.
Honest about ZipCrypto
We tell you it is weak and what it is for, instead of hiding it.
Ephemeral password
It lives in the page while you use it and vanishes: no server ever sees it.
Private
The archive never leaves your device: everything happens in your browser.
Frequently asked questions
Which encryption should I pick?
AES-256 if security matters (opens with 7-Zip, WinRAR, Keka…). ZipCrypto only if it must open in Windows Explorer with no software: its encryption is weak.
Do you store my password?
No. It is used in your browser to encrypt and then discarded. If you lose it, we cannot recover it: no copy exists.
Does Windows open AES-256 ZIPs?
Windows Explorer does not; you need 7-Zip or WinRAR (free). That is why we also offer the compatible mode.
