Why does it say my browser cannot encode AVIF?
Encoding AVIF (creating it) differs from decoding (viewing it). Recent Chrome and Firefox encode; Safari does not yet. We use the browser encoder so everything stays local.
Where should I use AVIF?
On websites: it is the most efficient image format modern browsers support. For chat or email, JPG remains more universal.
Which quality should I pick?
60-80% usually gives huge savings with no visible difference. Go lower only for thumbnails.
What about the reverse?
