Frequently asked questions
How does it work inside?
The HEIC is decoded with libheif (WebAssembly) and the result goes through tesseract OCR, both running in your browser.
What downloads the first time?
The HEIC decoder (~1.5 MB) and the OCR engine (~15 MB), from this same site; they stay cached.
Tips for better results?
Shoot the document straight on, well lit and in focus. The Scan to PDF tool also helps prepare documents.
Is my image uploaded anywhere?
No. Everything is processed on your device; for metadata and privacy this matters most, which is why it is guaranteed by design.
